Digital solutions to solve the challenges of water management and strengthen weather services

Digital transformation has established itself as one of the key pillars for tackling the challenges facing the urban water sector. Against this backdrop, Adasa will be taking part in the 38th DAQUAS Congress – organised by the Spanish Urban Water Association – from 3 to 5 June. The event, to be held at IFEMA Madrid, will bring together professionals, companies and institutions committed to innovation and sustainability in water management.

The company will be present at stand 7, where it will showcase its technological solutions designed to promote more efficient, resilient and intelligent management of the entire water cycle. Through various solutions and case studies, Adasa highlights the value delivered by digitalisation, data integration and operational intelligence to improve decision-making and optimise operational processes.

Among the technologies to be presented during the conference are solutions for the advanced operation of urban drainage and sanitation networks, plant optimisation and smart maintenance, early warning systems for water quality, online microbiological monitoring, leak detection, and data integration and operational intelligence platforms capable of transforming large volumes of information into actionable knowledge for operators.

Digital twins to automate the upstream supply process

In addition to its presence in the exhibition area, Adasa will actively participate in the conference’s technical programme. On 4 June at 10.20 am, in the Madrid Room, Borja Sanz Llorente, representing Adasa, and Esther Palacín, from SUEZ, will deliver a presentation entitled “Automated operational control using digital twins in new customer connections”.

During the session, the evolution of digital twins will be analysed, from their initial role as decision-support tools to becoming systems capable of automating operations in real time. The presentation will demonstrate how these technologies integrate operational data, operational constraints and advanced algorithms to generate and apply control signals directly to water infrastructure.

The speakers will also explain how this approach enables the growing complexity of high-level supply systems to be managed more efficiently, whilst simultaneously optimising variables such as demand, operating costs, energy consumption and operational conditions.

The presentation will include real-world implementation case studies in which the use of digital twins has led to measurable improvements in energy efficiency and reductions in operating costs, as well as a discussion of the main challenges associated with managing organisational change and the evolving role of the operator in increasingly automated environments.
