Adasa and CRSRI are strengthening their collaboration on IQ-RAS to move towards smarter and safer aquaculture
A delegation from the Changjiang River Scientific Research Institute (CRSRI) has visited Adasa’s facilities in El Prat de Llobregat to advance IQ-RAS, an R&D initiative aimed at developing new smart tools for monitoring, predicting and controlling water quality in recirculating aquaculture systems.
Adasa has supplied Getxo with its aquaBio analyser to enhance microbiological monitoring of the water at Las Arenas beach
Adasa has supplied Getxo Town Council with its aquaBio analyser, an advanced solution for microbiological water testing that will enable enhanced monitoring of water quality at Las Arenas beach this summer, as well as supporting official Public Health checks.
The introduction of this technology forms part of the new daily reporting system launched by the Council to provide the public with up-to-date data on changes in water quality at this beach, situated near the mouth of the estuary and subject to occasional variations linked to factors such as tides, currents or rainfall.
With aquaBio (more information here), Getxo will be able to carry out microbiological tests quickly and have results available within a few hours of taking samples. The system allows for the analysis of key indicators of water hygiene quality, particularly Escherichia coli and enterococci, parameters commonly used in the assessment of bathing waters.
The added value provided by Adasa will offer supplementary information to the official checks carried out by Public Health, which will continue to be the health benchmark in accordance with current regulations.

The information obtained through daily analyses will be made available to the public via the designated municipal channels, both on the council’s website and on signage installed on the beach itself. In this way, users will be able to consult the latest available analysis and find out the corresponding water quality classification.
Multiple applications of aquaBio
Developed by Adasa, aquaBio is a system designed to monitor the microbiological quality of water in various applications, ranging from beaches and bathing areas to wastewater treatment plants, water reuse, agriculture, industry, environmental monitoring and drinking water. In coastal and tourist environments, the technology helps to strengthen public health protection, improve the response to specific incidents of pollution and increase transparency in the communication of environmental data.
With this supply agreement, Adasa is consolidating its role as a technology partner for public authorities and operators seeking to move towards safer, more efficient and data-driven water management.
At the 38th DAQUAS Congress, Adasa will demonstrate how digitalisation is transforming the management of the entire water cycle
Digital transformation has established itself as one of the key pillars for tackling the challenges facing the urban water sector. Against this backdrop, Adasa will be taking part in the 38th DAQUAS Congress – organised by the Spanish Urban Water Association – from 3 to 5 June. The event, to be held at IFEMA Madrid, will bring together professionals, companies and institutions committed to innovation and sustainability in water management.
The company will be present at stand 7, where it will showcase its technological solutions designed to promote more efficient, resilient and intelligent management of the entire water cycle. Through various solutions and case studies, Adasa highlights the value delivered by digitalisation, data integration and operational intelligence to improve decision-making and optimise operational processes.
Among the technologies to be presented during the conference are solutions for the advanced operation of urban drainage and sanitation networks, plant optimisation and smart maintenance, early warning systems for water quality, online microbiological monitoring, leak detection, and data integration and operational intelligence platforms capable of transforming large volumes of information into actionable knowledge for operators.
Digital twins to automate the upstream supply process
In addition to its presence in the exhibition area, Adasa will actively participate in the conference’s technical programme. On 4 June at 10.20 am, in the Madrid Room, Borja Sanz Llorente, representing Adasa, and Esther PalacĂn, from SUEZ, will deliver a presentation entitled “Automated operational control using digital twins in new customer connections”.
During the session, the evolution of digital twins will be analysed, from their initial role as decision-support tools to becoming systems capable of automating operations in real time. The presentation will demonstrate how these technologies integrate operational data, operational constraints and advanced algorithms to generate and apply control signals directly to water infrastructure.
The speakers will also explain how this approach enables the growing complexity of high-level supply systems to be managed more efficiently, whilst simultaneously optimising variables such as demand, operating costs, energy consumption and operational conditions.
The presentation will include real-world implementation case studies in which the use of digital twins has led to measurable improvements in energy efficiency and reductions in operating costs, as well as a discussion of the main challenges associated with managing organisational change and the evolving role of the operator in increasingly automated environments.
