Adasa monitors water quality in the Gulf of Thailand following the commissioning of four aquaBio devices
Adasa has completed the project to supply and install four aquaBio B503 devices in Thailand for the continuous measurement and monitoring of microbiological water quality. The initiative included the commissioning of the equipment, which was manufactured at Adasa's facilities in El Prat de Llobregat, and the training of operators.
Specifically, aquaBio devices have been installed on the shores of Chon Buri province in the fishing area of Pattaya, at KLN Seaport, and in the tourist areas of Pattaya Pier and Saen Suk. In a second phase, they will be installed on the beaches of Phuket.
This project provides Thai authorities with early warning systems for the protection of fish farms and marine farms, as well as continuous data collection for the design and definition of the actual needs of the purification infrastructure in the monitored areas.
The benefits obtained by those responsible for the facilities also include:
- Daily information on microbiological contamination that may affect water quality.
- Safety for bathers, avoiding public health and sanitation management problems.
- Early warning of beach closures during episodes of contamination due to discharges from combined sewer systems (CSS).
- Alerts in the event of malfunctioning of the water regeneration plant.
- Reduction of economic losses by avoiding prolonged beach closures.
From now on, these coastal regions will have constant monitoring and automatic, autonomous, and continuous detection of microbiological contaminants that may affect consumer health, such as E. coli (Escherichia coli), a key indicator for determining water quality and possible uses, total coliforms, and enterococci.
aquaBio has been awarded ETV (Environmental Technology Verification - ISO 14034) certification by the European Commission, which provides objective evidence of its technical and functional performance and the resulting environmental benefits.
