Adasa modernizes the Busturialdea sewerage network for the Bilbao Bizkaia Water Consortium as part of the PERTE

The project promotes the digital transformation of the primary sewerage system and reinforces efficiency and sustainability in water management.

Adasa is carrying out a project to modernize and digitally transform the primary sewerage network in the Busturialdea region (Bizkaia), promoted by the Bilbao Bizkaia Water Consortium as part of the PERTE water cycle digitization program.
     
The project covers an area of 220 km², serves more than 46,000 inhabitants, and includes 16 pumping stations and 4 overflow points (CSO). The main objective is to improve the control and supervision of operations, renovate obsolete infrastructure, and ensure the availability and reliability of data for more accurate and agile decision-making.

The solutions implemented include the installation of flow and conductivity sensors throughout the network, the deployment of multi-parameter monitoring stations at key discharge points, and the renovation of electrical, control, and automation systems at pumping stations. All of this is integrated into central data platforms and SCADA systems, enabling advanced and connected management.

The project brings significant operational and environmental benefits: greater efficiency and reduced downtime through automation, enhanced compliance with environmental regulations thanks to real-time monitoring, and predictive asset management that extends their life cycle. The initiative is also aligned with European directives on sustainability and transparency in water management, contributing to a more efficient, digital and resilient operating model.
